 2012 ~

May 2012 saw the Installation of W. Bro. Stephen Prior. This was the fiftieth year of the Lodge of St Michael. In the September meeting W. Bro. Anthony C. Hayes PAGStB delivered a brief history of the Lodge from 1962 to 2012. The Provincial Grand Master had sent a certificate commemorating the achievement of half a century of meetings, saying “It is my pleasure to be able to express my appreciation of long and meritorious service to Freemasonry.”

It was in W. Bro. Prior's year that Bro. Norman Scott achieved the rare distinction of serving for seventy years in Freemasonry and the Provincial Grand Master was pleased to present him with a certificate to that effect. Despite his long and faithful service to Freemasonry, Norman had never aspired to the Master's chair, but remained content to wear rosettes rather than levels on his apron.

In May 2013 John Russell Wheeldon became Worshipful Master of the Lodge of St Michael. The year proved to be disappointing with regard to ceremonies as none were performed. This was unprecedented for the Lodge of St. Michael and an extraordinary committee meeting called by the WM resulted in a review of fees and subsequently the bylaws of the Lodge. In the best interests of the Lodge members in arrears were excluded after due notice. Towards the end of the Master's year two new joining members [including one Fellowcraft] were proposed as well as an initiate and the Lodge moved forward into the next Masonic year with renewed optimism.

The Master for 2014, Alan Allinson, was installed at the May meeting. July saw W. Bro. Peter John Hall PPJGW complete 50 years in Freemasonry and he also became the first Brother to complete 50 years as a member of the Lodge of St. Michael 7833.

Peter resides at Connaught Court and in recognition of his achievement and immense contribution to the Lodge over such a long period of time was visited by the Worshipful Master, members of the Lodge of St. Michael and the recently retired Provincial Grand Almoner, W. Bro. Derek Gaunt.

(Alan is the only one in light blue amongst the Officers of the Province and the United Grand Lodge of England, but his collar shows the square, emblem of the Worshipful Master.

Worshipful brother Allinsons' year included ceremonies in all three degrees and raised considerable sums for the Disabled Scouts and Great Ormond Street Hospital through social and fundraising events. Unfortunately the lodge spoiled itself when two members Blackballed a candidate for initiation. This resulted in resignations from the lodge and another difficult period in the lodges history.

At the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge held at the University of York on Saturday 9th May, Worshipful Brother Edwin Robert Wildman PPJGW, Provincial Organist was declared the winner of the Provincial Lecture Competition for 2015 with his lecture entitled "Tradition & Innovation - But We've Always done it that way!".

Eddie has entertained the Brethren of this and other Provinces for many years with his music in the Lodge Rooms and at the Festive Boards and with his many Masonic themed presentations performed under the guise of the Daggards ~ seeking, and succeeding, to entertain, inform and raise money for local charity.

Worshipful Brother Bernard Fraser became master of the Lodge of St Michael in May 2015 in what was to be a busy Masonic year.

From Day 0ne there were Propositions for new and rejoining members, then followed Three Initiations, one Passing and one Raising. Amongst this was a Rulers Visit by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master The Very Worshipful William Henry Fisher.

The reintroduction of the Garden Party added to a busy social calendar and raised £1500.00 which was split between Cancer Research Yorkshire and Dementia Charities. The lodge made further Charitable donations to the Tricentennial Festival as well as The Lord Mayors Funds of both Beverley and Hull.

A first for the Lodge of St Michael when Spanish born Antonio Ramirez Jiminez took the chair of King Solomon in 2016. Another first was when Worshipful Brother John Russel Wheeldon sang the Masters Song in Spanish for the new Worshipful Master.

The Installation was carried out under the watchful eye of Worshipful Brother David John Burnett PAGDC, the representative of the Right Worshipful Prvincial Grand Master.

During this year ceremonieswere carried out in all three degrees and Masonic business conducted in Peace and Harmony.                                                                                                                       At the November Charity Night £500.00 was presented to the Smile Foundation and The Thorpe's Hub Childrens Club recieved £250.00 from the Lodge.

Worshipful Master Antonio held a St Michaels Ball which raised £900.00 towards his charities. At the ball his partner serenaded the Ladies Accompanied by a twenty piece orchestra. A St  Georges night dinner was also held to boost the charity fund. by the end of the year the Smile Foundation had received £2000.00.

Worshipful Brother Terence William Black PPJGW was installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge of St Michael 7833 on Thursday 24th May 2018 at the Masonic Lodge, Prince Street, Dagger Lane in Kingston upon Hull. W Bro Black had first taken the Chair of this Lodge in 1989, and has the distinction of being the first member of the Lodge of St Michael to be Worshipful Master of Lodge 7833 for a second time. (The exigencies of the covid pandemic put Terry’s successor, W Bro Rennison, in the unavoidable position of being the second WM to do so.)

W Bro Black visited other Lodges, in particular Minerva 250 (from whom he retrieved the Travelling Gavel in March 2019) and Kingston 1010, and took pains to seek the opinions of all the St Michael members on the way forward for the Lodge, having attended the Pathway Briefing on Recruitment and Retention in York. His last visit before installing his successor was to Minerva Lodge, when his mobile phone suddenly sounded during the meeting, and his subsequent donation of £10 to the Minerva Charity Fund for the offence.

He presided over a very successful Christmas Lodge and hosted a lovely Dinner Dance in February.
